Brands In Hands ("we", "us", "our") connects local businesses with coffee drinkers through advertising on coffee cups at participating cafes. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
What we collect
When you claim a free coffee or enter our competition:
- Your first name, phone number, and email address
- The cafe where you scanned the offer
- If you choose to answer our optional questions: your interests, what you're currently shopping for, and whether you'd like to receive offers
- Your competition entry number and whether your free coffee has been redeemed
When you scan a QR code on one of our coffee cups:
- Technical information only: device type, browser, operating system, and the time of the scan
- We do not store your IP address — it is converted to an anonymous code that cannot be reversed
- Scans are not linked to your name or contact details
When you advertise with us: your business name, contact details, website, campaign preferences, and billing information processed through Wix's payment system (we never see or store your card details).
Why we collect it
- To run the free coffee offer and the $2,000 competition draw (contacting the winner, preventing duplicate entries, and letting cafe staff confirm redemptions)
- To send you offers from local businesses — only if you ticked the box agreeing to receive them
- To show our advertisers how their campaigns perform, using aggregated, de-identified statistics only (for example, "40% of scans at this cafe came from people interested in fitness"). We never sell, rent, or share your name, email, or phone number with advertisers or any other third party
- To operate, secure, and improve our service
Marketing communications
We only send marketing messages to people who have opted in. Every message we send identifies us and includes a working unsubscribe option. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any message or by contacting us at the address below. Opting out does not affect your competition entry or free coffee.
How your information is stored
Your information is stored securely on the Wix platform, which hosts our website and database. Access is restricted to authorised Brands In Hands administrators. Wix may store data on servers located outside Australia (including the United States and Europe); Wix maintains its own privacy and security safeguards, which you can read at wix.com/about/privacy.
How long we keep it
Competition entry details are kept for the duration of the promotion and for 3 months afterwards (to satisfy prize-claim requirements), then deleted or de-identified — unless you have opted in to receive offers, in which case we keep your contact details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Cookies
Our website runs on the Wix platform, which uses cookies necessary for the site to function and for basic analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Access, correction, and deletion
You can ask us at any time to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email us at info@brands-in-hands.com.au and we will respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first and we will do our best to resolve it promptly. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page with its effective date.
